“No One Is Ready To Support Indian Innovation As An Investor”: Shweta Shalini

Angel Investor, Shweta Shalini spoke on an investor’s take on business of media.

Jaipur, 11 August 2018  “Views are not news, fact is news and facts do not influence but based on those facts you create opinions and the opinions of youth will bring in change”, said Shweta Shalini while speaking about citizen journalism, at the Talk Journalism Event, held in Jaipur. She adds “Media is the only pillar of democracy that has backing from private sector for profits.” She put forward the largest paradoxical ironies for media students, there is no law restricting the reporting of fake news or reporting news right or wrong; Media should dictate the narrative through coverage and not intentionally influence; the Indian media does not innovate because it is difficult to commercialize innovation; The socialistic approach needs to change among investors, youth and as a citizen, it should develop as pro India and pro people of India.

She quoted, As an investor, I am content with the product with products made in India but when competition is with foreign products, we will have to do better, build better products. She also addressed the concerns of negative news selling faster and farther, and for the growth of ratings, positive news is neglected.

She spoke about woman entrepreneurs and investors who balance and work everything out. She also mentioned that entrepreneurship doesn’t have a gender and nor does talent.
